MAIN CAUSES OF POLLUTION IN THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER:

Pollution has taken a big toll on pur enviorment, but what causes it? Many different things cause pollution but four of the main sources of pollution is anthropogenic pollution, industrial pollution, domestic pollution, and agricultural polution.

-Anthropogenic sources of polution is the result of alittle of industrial, domestic, agricultural sources and mining activities of man.

-Industrial sources:The chemicals that are found in the water that comes from the buisnesses who dump it in the Mississippi.

-Domestic sources: Municipal sewage is discharged into the nearby canal.

-Municipal sewage: Wastewater from houses, commercial buildings and institutions.

-Agricultural sources: Soil and silt removed by erosion, agricultural run-off, Fertilizers, and insecticides

HISTORY OF THE  MISSISSIPPI RIVER:

The Mississippi River is the largest drainage system in the United States of America and flows entirely through United States. The Mississippi River also lies in ten different states icluding Louisiana Mississippi Arkansas Tennesee Kentuky Missouri Illionois Iowa Wisconsin Minnesota. With its many tributaries, the Mississippi River’s watershed drains all or parts 31 of the 50 United states of america and two Canadian Provinces. The Mississippi River Valley is one of the most fertile agricultural areas in the region due to its thick silt deposits from the overflowing river's delta.

THE EFFECTS OF POLLUTION:

Pollution Kills. Pollutions causes the death of animals which inevitably leads to the destruction of food chains.

How do food chains work?

Tiny Organisms are eaten by→ Little Fish

Little Fish are eaten by→ Big Fish

Big Fish are eaten by→ Humans

Many different animals live in a centeral area or habbitat where they designate each of the animals a role to keep the society in order. This is also called an ecosystem.

Once all tiny organisms die, all the little fish die, and all the big fish die, we lose a MAJOR source of food. This also causes a disrupted food chain which inevitably leads up to a destroyed ecosystem

Along with the the other 12.7 million pounds of toxic chemicals that are found in the river, many of the toxins are known to cause cancer, reproductive disorders, and developement delays. other diseases that can be traced back to the Mississippi River are:

-Ammonia Poisoning

-Black Spots

-Cataracts

-External Bacterial Infection

-Fungal Infection

-Internal Bacterial Infection
